What are they?
I have an open weave travel scarf that was my go to for so long, its seen better days.
I also have a green day pack that has accompanied me many places. But I'm thinking of again trying to retire it for a bag that better lends to organization. Everything goes to the bottom, but I keep going back to it.
Seems like there are others, but can't recall what they are. Some might be dependent on warm or cool weather.

Depends if I'm travelling by car or plane! But I always take a lava lava (sarong) as it has many uses.

My light scarf with giraffes on. It's multiple use and of sentimental value Silk sleeping bag liner. Adds a layer of warmth when it's cold, keeps me cool when it's hot. Vital where the sheets look dodgy My Samsonite Excursion bag. It has a pocket for everything, and is neat and compact My power pack to charge my phone when I'm somewhere without electricity Travel towel Tiny push light that clips on to my bag.For places where it's 'black dark' at night, where I might wake up and not be able to see anything.

One of my Secret Santa gifts was a multi-compartment folding lightweight fabric wallet thingy, with several compartments. I put medication, earrings and necklaces in it, and it takes up very little space.

I have a travel packing list in Evernote that includes a long list of go-to items! Just a selection here.
1) Sarong, as other people say, though sadly last year I managed to lose the nice one I got in Jaipur so now I have to use an inferior one from a thrift store until I manage to find another nice one. 2) Plastic airplane approved fork/knife/spoon set wrapped in a linen napkin 3) Mini-moleskines and tiny pens 4) Rubber exercise bands that I never bother to use but carry with me anyway because I swear next time, etc 5) Binoculars

depends a bit on what type of trip. but I think for the past couple of years I've always worn exactly the same thing on flights, not even consciously, but it seems to be the right combination of clothing that is most comfortable for me!

i hate travelling without my swiss army knife, but this doesn't mesh with my love of carry-on-only.

My Swiss army knife almost got me a longer stay in Ecuador. But the security guy was very nice about the whole thing. It was lodged in my bag but we couldn't find a way to get it out.

i used to have a fab sarong, but lost it on a trip.
i have a pair of scrubs i love for any trip with hiking, and a couple of skirts with security pockets, plus a sleeveless top with a hidden pocket, and a soft blazer with a hidden pocket. it does get confusing, remembering what's in each pocket.

Where I am at the moment, generally any travel out of town is by car. Toilet paper, water and duct tape are the basic essentials.

I've also become one of those people who takes a small number of tea bags on holiday if I'm travelling to S. America. Black tea is really bitter there.

I had a summer wrap that had been with me EVERYWHERE.
It fell apart after last Turkey sailing trip, I was heartbroken. It had 20 years of memories woven into it.

I always bring a small empty cloth bag, which I use to bring home soap from hotels. I haven't bought soap in YEARS! All soap comes from hotels. It drives me insane to use a soap twice and then throw it away...! (Yes, yes, that's fine, calm down now... it's ok....)

The one I've stayed at in London had a liquid dispenser, but lately I guess i've been high-class like that.

I end up bringing my own soap from home as most of the hotel soaps are strongly perfumed so I can't use them at all.

Oh man Hal, I hadn't thought of that... that sucks. How about the detergent they wash the sheets in? Sometimes the sheets are perfumey.

I bring soap from home, then keep the hotel ones to donate to the local Women's Refuge, or Disaster Relief..

Oh man Hal, I hadn't thought of that... that sucks. How about the detergent they wash the sheets in? Sometimes the sheets are perfumey. Yeah, that can be an issue. And my fingers started to slightly peel once from the detergent used on the towels.
