When you meet the couple who has names that might be traditionally male or female. Inevitability I get them mixed up. I knew a couple who both had gender-neutral names, and they both looked quite androgynous to boot. I only managed to remember their names because I met the wife first, and they were friends with someone I knew, who mentioned her name often.

A photo a school friend of mine posted on FB today - her husband is blind and has a guide dog. They went to a snow resort in New South Wales that has lots of metal grating bridges - the dog refused to walk on the grating, so the photo is of her blind husband picking up the dog (the whole 37kg of her!) and carrying her across the metal grating bridge!

Partner buys a lot of shirts from Rohan, a travel brand. Twice this week, he's been wearing a shirt he's owned for years, and discovered a secret pocket. Rohan really needs to start including diagrams with their clothing.

Whoaaaa the women's field pants (trousers) have so many zipper pockets PLUS a D-ring to hang things from!! Do you like their pants (trousers)?

Still laughing about something that happened yesterday on my daytrip to Maine from the town senior center.
I got on the bus and had to walk pretty far back. The first empty seat was behind a friend of mine and next to a man. He was a nice guy and we chatted a bit along the way. On the way home someone came down the aisle handing out cookies. She looked at me and asked, "Would your husband like one?" I said, "We've just met." I could not see her face. I took a cookie, he didn't, nor did he comment on the situation.
How many things are wrong with this picture?

The display on the front of a bus I passed last night still makes me chuckle. Instead of a route designation, or even the 'not in service' sign, it had "Merry Christmas". Getting in early, or super late?

My son-in-law was setting up a Halloween display in the sex toy store where he is a manager and accidentally set off a silent alarm, which I assume summons the police.
Let's just sit with the image of that whole scenario. I love him; Spawn chose well.

Whoaaaa the women's field pants (trousers) have so many zipper pockets PLUS a D-ring to hang things from!! Do you like their pants (trousers)? I have a pair of their capri trousers (the pale grey ones) and would wear them every single day in the summer if I thought I could get away with it. No secret pockets, but easy to look vaguely smart in them and they're comfortable. They also feel pretty resilient--I'm often in the garden in them. I wear a pair of the men's jeans, because the women's version don't have all the bonus pockets, and the hips don't fit me as well. I'd recommend them for quality.

Hmmm I may have to leave room for an extra pair of pants when I go there next summer They're pretty good about online orders--you could have it shipped to the store in Edinburgh, and then try it on there to see what fits or doesn't, especially if you order a sale item (they don't keep those in the stores for long). They used to call the clearance section on their website 'The Souk' but that's dropped now.

some dark humour in our house yesterday. Making jokes about asking my sister if Storm Fiona has stripped the leaves of the NH trees--she and fiance are really hoping for a good colour show on their day.
my FiL is having that wierd thing again where he is completely lucid about everything else, but has no idea who his wife is. He told us that "that woman X is back in the house--no, not my wife X, but they have the same name." So we were joking that maybe, all this time, a woman named X has been coming into the house, and no one believes him!

yes, they were all pretty lucky, they just got wind and rain. Nephew is mildly disappointed that none of the falling trees landed on his girlfriend's car--he hates that car. (he's not an asshole, it's a money pit.)

(he's not an asshole, it's a money pit.) Reminds me of a friend of mine: she was trying to sell her car before going off to a university year abroad, with no takers. A few days before departure there was a horrendous storm overnight. She came dancing into the cafeteria for breakfast, singing, "A tree fell on my car! A tree fell on my car!" She called her insurance company, they declared it a total loss, and she went happily on her way.

I had a crap bicycle that I wanted to get rid off, I left it parked with no lock near Amsterdam central station. It was still there for four weeks...
If your bike doesn't even get stolen left unlocked by Amsterdam CS you know it's an A level crap bike!

Though lately I've been thinking I should get an e-bike to replace it, since there are lots of hills around here, but DAYUM they are kind of $$$.

"ISO a singing bowl Is there anyone who is looking to give one away? I’ve gone to sound baths before and love the sound these bowls make. So relaxing!"
yet another village fad?

Though lately I've been thinking I should get an e-bike to replace it, since there are lots of hills around here, but DAYUM they are kind of $$$. My company has a subsidy programme for purchase of ebikes, if I get one it has to be the type with the removable battery since it's parked on the street... it would allow longer trips but there are some rental options nearby that would be worth using at least to see if I like them.

The UK has a gov't program to give tax breaks if people buy a bike to cycle to work. They finally raised the limits a couple of years ago to allow e-bikes into the scheme--there's a certain amount of "that's not a real bike" snobbery here.
There is a device you can attach to a normal bike to make it electric, but aside from the fact that it exists, I know nothing about it. My gift to me for next year will be a secondhand folding e-bike. So I can take it on the bus when the rains is chucking it down.
