First discussion - the fact that 'oily Tongan' in a google search actually works and lets you know that the hot Tongan guy from the Summer Olympics is competing in the Winter Olympics.

An Oily Tongan sounds like something unsavory from Urban Dictionary.
I managed to watch 5 minutes of Olympics on the office breakroom TV; it was just promo stuff, unfortunately.
We drove by an Ethiopian bar on the way home and they had hockey on the TV, which I thought was fabulous and possibly Olympic?

I'm already annoyed with the Australian coverage - instead of showing what is actually happening now (curling) we get replays of skating from yesterday, or in depth interviews with plucky Australian athletes. And when they do show something it is only the Australians in the race.
The one eyed coverage seems to get worse every year.

I've set my TVs to record, but will probably delete most of it. Not enough I'm actually interested. Some of the extreme snow sports have gone too far for me!

Seems I only get interested after the fact. Like that the kid named Red from the US won gold in snowboarding. Did I see the event? Of course not. And the triple whatever by the US skater? No didn't see it. Have not even seen the replay.
Kudos to Norway on the medal count.
Oh and I found interesting that Russia isn't RU, its something like OAR. Olympic athletes from Russia. I guess over that doping trouble they had. Half listening on that.

Yeah tinaja, I'm seeing clips on Twitter the next day. The snowboarding is amazing! It's like they're careening, floating in space.

In more Olympic "News" Katy Couric apologised.... For those not in the Netherlands her comments during the Olympics opening ceremony have been the source of huge amusement here

The first I heard about Winter Olympics was this afternoon on the radio when the chap on the radio said Australian so and so (can't remember his name) won a bronze medal in snowboarding. A gold medal was won by an American. Then I forgot about it until I saw this thread.

Well I love Shawn White. Can't help it. Of course two seconds after gold medal people were trashing on him. And well I think I'd probably love any of the snowboarders. Something about that sport is crazy hot. There must lurk inside me a 16 year old girl.

I like Shaun White but I adore Adam Rippon, who tweeted to his homophobic haters that he was a “glamazon bitch” and I now love him forever. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

One of the Jamaican bob-sled coaches looks like Danny John-Jules (the Cat in Red Dwarf and Dwayne in Death in Paradise).

I was watching the women’s biathlon on the treadmill at the gym today; it was very inspiring. Those backpack gun things are crazy futuristic .
