So, we're off on holiday this Saturday (big yay for us). Only, I have done zero research and feel really under prepared.
My excuses are: a) I'm so exhausted at the end of the day and then week that I can barely do anything but mindlessly scroll through stuff and sleep. And sometimes garden a little. b) It's a destination we have been to so many times, although we always go somewhere a little different each time, and the main city we always try and do something a little different c) It's primarily a chill out, relax holiday, with a bit of day tripping thrown in d) I've bought three books and am wondering if that's sufficient e) jpeg :-D
Am I excused?

Agree with mei.. don’t add stress about the holiday beforehand.

It's been about three years since we've been to Thailand, so I'm sure it has changed a bit. Dr W3 gets a bit grumpy with me if I don't "know" stuff, or he's told me and I've forgotten!
There is only so much my brain can absorb at this point in time, and work is absorbing every tiny nook and cranny of it.
Although I have done a teeny bit of research into where I can go to buy some more jackets :-D

You are excused! Just tell him you're a work zombie if he gets grumpy and let him figure out whatever it is that needs to be figured. (Though I understand, I'm used to going into a trip with so much information it's like I've lived there for five years.)

Of course you’re excused. I went to China in 1983 knowing practically nothing. I learnt a lot while I was there. These days I always take ebooks on phone and iPad when travelling.

this is every single holiday my partner and i ever go on.
give yourself some grace--do you have a place to stay the first two nights? chill out and plan from there. you might not get to do some stuff that needed advance planning/booking, but you can always do those another trip or decide it probably wouldn't be that great anyway...

All of it's booked! It's just the day to day stuff. We have talked about doing some stuff in Bangkok and going to some other districts we haven't been to before, but I haven't actually looked into it further. Ditto for where we're spending the rest of the holiday - day trip stuff. We know we want to go back to a couple of places we've been to before and want to revisit, but we have never actually been to Chiang Rai before - all around it, but not the town.
We will be doing some cave tourism! Although I believe it is still fenced off. I'm not sure we will venture into any other caves - we have done in the past, but this is the end of the wet season!

Meh, it will be fine. And you know what, maybe having unorganised days where you just potter is exactly what you need right now. And as long as you have wifi you can still plan when you get there. Relax and enjoy the holiday.
