I've got a work trip to Malawi in a week and another trip to Zimbabwe next month, and for the first time in my whole life I really don't want to go. I'm sorry you're feeling that way. It's understandable though. Where in Malawi will you be? You know we have a figment there? I imagine you're busy and/or have contacts, but I know some lovely positive people out there, including the figment.

I don't have contacts but will be quite busy with work, Mon-Thurs evenings free though. Which figment is there, I didn't realise we had one

I've just made arrangements to meet up with my best friends from the UK in late June, who will be in Antwerp for a Mark Knopfler concert. They have booked a 2 bedroom AirBnB and asked if we'd like to join them. Yippee!!!

We still have not decided where to go, but he doesn't want to travel to the northern hemisphere, so that's taken about 3/4 of the destinations out of contention.
We might be narrowing it down to going back to Sri Lanka to do the northern / north eastern bit that we didn't do last year. And string hoppers.
Or Cambodia again, but the weather isn't too good in May.

We probably won't be going to the concert, that's just the reason our friends will be on this side of the Channel. I like Mark Knopfler, but PG is not a fan, so don't want to shell out €60-plus for tickets. We'll probably just hang out in a brewery pub while our friends are at the concert

I went to Goa for two weeks last month. Feels like 1,000 years ago already. Am grateful that I got to go and enjoy it tho. I have booked a long weekend in Venice coming up in April but aside from that I don’t have anything else booked just yet. My OH has a significant birthday this year so we are planning on marking the occasion with travel wherever possible. Your Goa photos were great. I never made it there while living in India but so many of my colleagues went and raved about it.

We're planning a week in Croatia after Easter. From Zadar to Dubrovnik along the coast, with stops in Trogir and Split. Never been to that part of the world so tips for sightseeing or food most welcome.
Hoping Dubrovnik won't be too overrun with cruise ships in April.

This schedule shows which ships are in which day, and how many people are on each ship. Green days are okayish, amber could be busy, and get out of town on red days. www.croatiatraveller.com/southern_dalmatia/Dubrovnik/april2019.pdfWe used this schedule to plan what we did on each day of our trip. But the rule of thumb on any day is to do the town things early in the morning, or when day visitors have gone back to their ship (which is pretty early, really, and each ship's departure time is also on that information sheet). We had the walls pretty much to ourselves after 5ish most days.

It's a great resource isn't it? Even on one of the yellow days, it lets you know that one of the two huge ships leaves at 2pm and the other at 4pm. So you can do something out of the centre for the morning, have lunch, then go back into town knowing everyone will be back on board by 3.

one of my trips this summer is starting to come together. a couple of days hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc. I've done 5 days of it two years ago with a friend, so this continuing for another 3 or 4 days with another friend in late June. Excited!

Hoping Dubrovnik won't be too overrun with cruise ships in April. we tried to go from zagreb to dubrovnik and back a few years ago, with two weeks. we almost made it to zadar and then had to go back via the interior. the coast was great. stunning water, terrifying cliff highways. Pag was interesting; lunar on the outside, lush in the interior. still kicking my self for not buying any lace. Dugi island looked interesting, but we didn't have time. Paklenica national park makes for great walks, interesting formations, and offers a lot of rock climbing--even if you don't climb, it's interesting to watch all the other people being spiders. we ate nice seafood there too, but no idea if the restaurant still exists. mostly i remember the pizza. it was heaven.
