Yes, very regional Leela - up means place of gathering or waterhole, depending on which reference you view (although they really are one and the same). Usually around the south-west of WA, belongs to the Noongar range of languages. This has an extensive, but by no means definitive, list of names: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-up

A clue to Aussie Words: if it ends in ...up, it’s probably Western Australia. There's a town called Koo-Wee-Rup in Victoria about 60 kms south/east of Melbourne just outside Tooradin.
