I almost never watch football, but I must say I'm intrigued listening to the bits on the sports section of Today when they discuss the current season of the English Premiership and how it now seems to be about player contracts (expiring end of June) and all the money promised for television rights. I think they've given up on the idea of completing all 92 of the remaining games within any reasonable time-scale.
It's a bit like when the F1 championship was decided after the races had been completed by three men arguing the technical details of the cars' compliance with various arbitrary regulations.
Mr Snow and I were also wondering how the TdF would work if they really do go ahead with an August start date... presumably they'd have daily (or twice-daily) testing of all riders and other personnel, which could mean a really interesting race if most of the main favourite got knocked out at various strategic points.
I've wondered about whether if would be possible to stage the World Championship snooker, and when I suggested this on Twitter I got a response saying County Cricket might be OK - neither the players, nor the half dozen or so spectators normally get within 2 metres of each other in the ordinary way of things.

I do wonder if the Tour will go ahead with the revised date. I'd actually like to go over and watch it for a weekend but obviously not booking anything yet.
The Tour is about 1000 people inc peloton, team staff, TV etc.

One of the first things PG did was cancel his subscription for a sports channel. No point when there's no sport on. Once the rugby and Bundesliga are back up and running (whenever that may be) I imagine he'll be reactivating it!

I heard the other day that apparently there's been a push to have a global rugby season which the IRB have been resistant to but this might push them into it.
There were 2 or 3 rounds of the big rugby and rugby league competition in the Southern Hemisphere before they were canned.

I’m weeping crocodile tears because our football players have been told that in future they might need to have a real job! When I was growing up, players were things like doctors, teachers and garbage collectors, and didn’t get paid obscene amounts of money.

I just want to scream at the TV when the NRL bosses keep going on about starting a contact sport (even without spectators) at some stupidly early date when this outbreak isn't fully understood or even contained.
I admire those who have accepted the paycuts without fuss, promoted charitable and helpful work, kept up their at home fitness regimes, and as I saw (no idea who he was or what sport he played), has got stuck into online learning acknowledging that sport may never be the same again so he will need to have a fall back career.

The men in my house are not happy about the lack of soccer at the moment.... I do wonder when things will slowly start again. I suppose some sport is easier to restart, especially if it's done without an audience (tennis, athletics maybe, swimming). But! I do now have a collector's item at home - since I already bought my Tokyo 2020 merchandise back in October....

Wimbledon was cancelled early.
I haven't cared about sport since then.

NZ NBA basketballer Steven Adams was asked about what it's like being in lock down at the Disney resort where all the players are staying so they can play his response? It's fine I mean it's not Syria is it it's a resort.

Watching baseball games on tv without fans in the stands is weird. Same for soccer.

Community sport is back here but it is one parent per child allowed on the sidelines so I haven't been for a few weeks.

I was a bit upset last Saturday when Clipper mentioned one of the other parents who had made it - I haven't seen her since Feb and we get on well. Not someone I'd ring up and suggest meeting up but for the past 3 years has been a sidelines friend on Saturday mornings.
