So, I had great fun putting together my menu plan for the coming long weekend, which looks like it's going to be a cold one, so lots of stuff like 4 hour slow-cooked lamb shoulder, Dutch pea and ham soup, the 2 Greedy Italians' slow cooked ragu.
However, despite the fact that I have about 10,000 cookbooks and magazines, I'm struggling to come up with ideas for lovely comfort food desserts to go with them. I'm thinking of Cookie's Tarte Normande for one day, but does anyone else have any other ideas/favourites for desserts for a cold weekend? And that I don't mind spending ages in the kitchen preparing, either, as I probably won't be doing much else over the weekend (apart from catching up with some FigJammers on Friday, that is...)

Apple crumble and ice cream (or cream) of course!

Oooh, thanks for the link, Zoe. I've done apple crumble a fair bit lately, but those puddings look like a fabulous alternative!!

Rice with coconut milk and palm sugger? Warm pineapple with honey and thyme, with ice cream?

I've just planned our menus too. We're off for the whole 10 days together, spending time at home and together as a family.
We're having a delicious vegetarian roast dinner, baked camembert, smoked salmon, sweet potato and prawn laksha and then popping to our local pizza place and tapas as a treat. Can't wait!
For pudding I'm going to try making a salted caramel tart, if that classifies as comfort pud?

i have lots of food in the house for this long weekend but mostly cheeses and yes of course lamb hmmm... cheese................!!! (the lamb is not that 'special' as i eat it often, unless it's very young early spring lamb and/or its origin.) enjoy your Easter feast, everyone! ;D

Google for Green & Blacks drunken damson pudding - it's very rich but lovely for cold weather and always seems to impress.
