Due to my disgust at China having been awarded the Olympics at all, I will probably not be watching anything at all. At an absolute pinch, I might watch the figure skating. I will certainly not be wasting a second of my time watching the propaganda fests that will be the opening and closing ceremonies.
I feel similarly about the World Cup in Qatar next year.

Yeah even if we had a tv, we probably would have the same attitude as river.
I'm especially annoyed about the World Cup. Hopefully the next one will be in a normal kind of place.

New Zealand has some really good medal prospects and could very well win our first Winter Olympic gold medal.

I’m interested in how the Australians go in the bobsleigh and skeleton. Unfortunately, we lost to USA and China in the curling.

Just watched an event, snowboarding, in which New Zealand won gold, USA silver and Australia bronze. But if the broadcasts continue to have the really annoying background noise, I won’t be watching much more.

Australia has a bronze medal. The poor athlete will now be dragged out in front of the host broadcasters for the next week in that "oi oi oi"way.
Because I don't really expect many more medals. Think the most we've ever achieved at a winter Olympics is 3.

The Australian gold medalist comes from that well known winter town of Cairns.

The Australian gold medalist comes from that well known winter town of Cairns. Ha Maybe she just trained there - it appears she is from Barwon Heads in Victoria. Or it was the curlers who are from Cairns

Zoi Sadowski-Synnott who won NZ's first ever gold medal at the winter Olympics just won a Silver - she now has a complete set as she won a Bronze last olympics.
