I just finished making another batch of ginger rhubarb chutney. This year I will be a bit more selective as to which chutneys I will make as we don’t have much of a garden (yet). Those of you who like chutney, what is your favourite?

Tomato relish was always my go to and favourite to make.

Mango chutney. But I’m not sure mangoes grow in your part of the world.

My favorite is the coconut chutney you get with your idlis in south Indian restaurants, but I also like mango chutney and tomato chutney and spicy cilantro chutney and etc.

Years ago I also had a lightly spiced mustard, corn and pineapple recipe. Sounds awful but tasted great with cheese. Also did gerkins which were unusual at that time here.

This post is off the beaten track as it has nothing to do with chutney the food, but everything to do with the daughter of the dead man. Chutney was girl who killed her father in Legally Blonde 2. On the homepage always do I see “Chutney” under “Last past” on “The Kitchen” forum and it brings to mind Chutney the killer!

Ha! Funny names always stick in memory!
I’ve been looking for a coconut chutney which can be canned (jarred) and it seems that critter doesn’t exist. I will make some peach or apricot chutney in the next few weeks.
