Marrakesh

We are thinking of possibly visiting Marrakesh with some friends in the spring.

I'm sure some of you have been, so any tips on where to stay/eat/visit?

Oh, I really enjoyed my trip there! It was 15 years ago though and mostly organized by my then boyfriend, so I can't really recommend anything in terms of accommodation/places to eat. We spent about 5/6 days there but also took a trip into the mountains (which turned into quite an adventure with a bus that couldn't continue a snowed over mountain pass, so we stayed overnight with some local villagers) and rented a car for 1 or 2 nights out to Essouira. Really lovely place. It was a really amazing trip.

I've loved my visits however find being close to the main square too noisy and with a few more persistent nuisances than I like.
The riad I stayed in twice has now reverted to a private home. It was close to one of the gates to the Medina so no long bag carrying issues and no pool which I didn't need in winter.

I absolutely loved Marrakech!!! One of my favourite places.

Looking on their website, I can't see if this absolutely fantabulous place still does the al fresco rooftop cooking classes that I did there, but in any case, I always swore that if I ever came back, I would stay there - it looked absolutely amazing!!

A visit to Les Jardins Marjorelle (final resting place of Yves St Laurent) and perhaps having lunch at the legendary La Mamounia would be high up on my list! Also visiting the palaces, and Saadien's tombs, would be an absolute must!

It's a bit touristy, but having a sundowner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Jemaa el-Fna main square is a must-do as well
