After a few months (well, okay, 2) of not travelling I'm starting to get itchy feet again... Being in Portugal last January was so good, with sunny, warm-ish weather - that I'm thinking about heading to the Iberian peninsula again for a bit next month.
So, Spain... I would be taking a train to Barcelona (which has a relatively good connection from here), but am looking for ideas on what to do from there. I'd like to do/see a little bit more than just Barcelona, but also won't have loads of time (I'm hoping for a week, but it all depends on hospital stuff etc).
What places in Spain would be nice to visit, which are an easy train ride away from Barcelona? (apart from a short weekend in Barcelona, and a day in Madrid, Spain is totally new for me!)

Looking at the map: maybe a triangle visiting Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza would be nice and doable?

Many years ago, I took the sleeper from Barcelona to Granada. I enjoyed that, and although Granada can be a bit kitschy, it is completely different, and the Alhambra alone is the best part of a relaxed day. (Pack a lunch, unless it's improved, the food offerings are dire.)
