Liking for sympathy, Q.
And as for having the booster with a cold, I had to tick that I didn't have a cold and my GP took my temperature before giving me the booster.
Wastewater counts at the moment are massively up everywhere. Have been following some interesting variant hunters on twitter, and there is much discussion amongst them as to whether this is due to a massive surge, illness that lasts longer, or illness targeting the guts. No one seems to know.

They asked if I had a cold and I said no - did my research and as I'm not running a fever it's not a risk to get the vaccine, and this week was the last possibility.
Pharmacist didn't care - he looked as if he was still in school - since when did people become so young! He seemed to be glad to have somebody coming for the booster, they still have a lot of vaccine left. Didn't even ask for eligibility.
Feeling rough and dizzy today, but that can be the headcold, no idea if it's the vaccine. Barely any swelling on arm which is good!

Mostly OK, I left the house yesterday for a short walk.... a short slow walk.
I'm still tired and a bit snot-ridden, but the monster headache has gone which is marvelous.
I've got a lunch thing on tweede kerstdag (boxing day) but I'll only go if I've had a negative test and am feeling less tired.

At the doctor’s on Thursday, she asked me if I wanted the 3 red covit injection to which I replied, no thank you doctor, I didn’t have the first two and see no sense to start now. She also asked would I like the flu vaccine to which my answer was the same. She then reeled of the names of several different one. She did explain because I am over xx years of age the government has made so many forget the number of shots available for free. My answer was always the same, no thank you. My daughter gets a flu shot every year as does her daughter, me? Never had one in my life. Guess who gets the flu? Not me that’s for sure. I do think some people are more predisposed than others to get these things, fortunately for me, I am not one of them. Both daughter and granddaughter have had covid and yes, both had the covid vaccines. They both get the flu too.

Oh gods it's way too early in the morning for me have to talk about the utter idiocy of refusing vaccines. Backing out now... nope, can't deal with it
Sigh - ok no, I have to do this
Vaccines don't necessarily PREVENT all disease, but they reduce SEVERITY of disease. Remember 2020, when people who got COVID ended up in the hospital on ventilators, or in the morgue trailer that was parked outside of tzarine's fucking house? And remember how influenza used to be a massive pandemic with bodies in the street, and isn't anymore?
Now you might hear about vaccinated people with COVID being like "well I missed work for three days and feel like crap," but they aren't DEAD. Particularly people with preexisting medical conditions (ahem PHAR) should get vaccinated.

You have underlying health conditions that mean when you get Covid you are likely to get very very sick. Or die. That's the choice you are making.

Plus, the data for hospital acquired Covid for Victoria does not make for pleasant reading. If any of your pre-existing health conditions put you in hospital, and you pick up Covid while in there, the mortality rate in hospitals worked out to be 10%. And sadly hospitals in most of Australia aren't really trying all that hard to stop infections.

I actually don't care if I offend today. Sorry, Phar, but you are an idiot for refusing a potentially life saving vaccine, especially with your other underlying health condition. You didn't explain the reasoning behind your decision, if there even is one.
Not my job to educate you, if you don't listen to your Dr I am sure you won't listen to me.
It's your life, but people still die from Covid every day, and guess what, the unvaccinated are more likely to do so. If you end up in hospital with Covid (which I don't hope), or get long Covid - just please don't come here and whinge about it.
TBH I find you post seriously upsetting.
On another note - my niece has tested positive today, spiking nearly 40C fever, coughing like hell, and if it gets worse my sister is considering taking her to hospital as her oxygen levels are low. So this idiot post really hit home today.

Thanks, hoping the same.
Between this and my neighbour who was a healthy woman in her mid thirties who suffers with long covid, has heart damage, only 30-40% lung capacity and is now officially handicapped for life I just have zero tolerance for idiotic anti vaccination posts.
My neighbour caught covid early 2021 before she was eligible for a vaccine, had she been vaccinated she probably would not have ended up in hospital and now would not be permanently handicapped. And that opinion is based on data not anecdotes.

My sister brought her to hospital at 10pm after she vomited for two hours, she was worried about her breathing and dehydration ( my BIL used to be a volunteer paramedic and made the call). Last I heard is that she is stable, on the oxygen and fluids, and sleeping ( guess they knocked her out). It's 4:30 am here, needless To say I'm not sleeping well. Will get more news tomorrow but she is in the best hands.
Christmas Eve she was healthy, happy, chatting away,24 hours later in hospital. Crazy how quickly things can change! She's only 10...but when I spoke to my sister just before midnight she sounded relieved, the Dr's seem to be positive that with proper care she will recover quickly, but said bringing her in was the right thing.
Needless to say we are all in shock, my nephew is gutted because he argued with her about a video game and feels so guilty. Had a long talk with him and he is sleeping now.
Something I will try and well now!

Glad your nephew is sleeping, and that your niece is now getting the treatment she needs.
Covid can be so scary in the way they can go down so quickly - there are moments from the 36 hours that LC was so ill with it that are seared on my brain, yet he doesn't recall any of it thankfully (in fact, he keeps on forgetting the ambos came out to check on him)
Hope you can get to sleep, knowing she is in the right place.

Oh romily, how scary. I'm glad she is getting the help she needs now and hope this means she'll be on the mend very soon.
Another example of why I just want to slap people who say that Covid is 'just like a mild cold' - for many, this is true but then something like this happens and you realise that it's a bit like Russian roulette.

My niece is improving, but they want to keep her in hospital for 48 hours for observation, and to get her oxygen up, and make sure she doesn't have a relapse. But all sounds positive. Was a scary 24 hours though!
I'm totally exhausted, my got about 4 hours of sleep - my sister probably none! - but still was wide awake at 8am. Just went for a walk to stay awake, and will crash early tonight!

Just a last not to Phar's comment - I doubt she will reply as this is a habit when she is being called out on something.
We would call people out for racist comments, sexual abuse comments and similar - I will call everybody out for anti vaxxer comments in the same way. These vaccines have saved countless lives, and to actually boast about not taking it is highly offensive and can be a huge trigger for propel who have lost somebody to Covid. I actually think it's our responsibility in every form of live, online, offline, to not be quiet about how we feel in case we offend somebody, even if that person has offended us. And my comments had been the same even if my niece hadn't fallen ill.
My niece is improving and just wants to go home as she can't play with her new games in hospital, which is a great sign. They are talking about releasing her Thursday still.
