lol wombat, ok ok (We also have a town here Bowie that is pronounced boo-ee, as against David Bowie which of course is bow-ee.) Yes as vinny says: I pro-DOOSE the PRO-doose. I'm not sure how you'd say that with a short "u" sound? Like rhyming with "dust"?

Michael Rowland made an absolute hash of pronouncing Tumbulgum on ABC News Breakfast this morning. I can only think he misheard the reporter he was responding to!

OK, you're going to have to spell that phonetically for me - I read it as Tumble-gum.
But then I suppose it could be Tum-BUL-gm.
We have two places, quite close to each other: Tambellup Kambellup
Both pronounced differently!! The emphasis is on TAM on the first and BELL on the second.

Then you have Newark (New-urk) NJ vs Newark (New-ark) Delaware, or Houston (Hee-youston) TX vs Houston St (House-ton) NY

I always think in German words are pronounced exactly the way they are spelled - would be interesting to get a non native German speakers perspective on that... Außer wenn der Weg weg ist ... Und ob du jemanden umfährst oder umfährst wird demjenigen nicht ganz egal sein ... Oder ob jemand ein Brot ist oder das Brot lieber isst ... Ich bete für die Rote Beete ... Er ballt bald seine Faust weil er so viel fiel ...
So, there are some things that are not always clear ...
