1. inconsiderate colleagues who come into our open-space team area to talk to one or two of our team, only to then so loudly (as though it was a private office) that the rest of us cant concentrate
2. lazy colleagues who dont do their own work, and their bosses who refuse to train/sanction/admonish them for it.
3. new assistant who was forced on us by parent company. she is inefficient, too timid & not as intelligent as is needed for this job, and she replaced someone who was exceptional who we were not allowed to keep because we had to take this person. so, my workload augments because of it. stupid system.

Stupid self-serve supermarket checkout!
The lines were long, the staff was short, my order was small. So I thought I'd whip through the self-service line. HA!
The first couple of items were fine. Then the scanner didn't scan. I flagged down an employee and told her so. She briskly picked up a yogurt, flicked it across the screen, and nothing happened. She looked at me quizzically - "It's not scanning!" Yes, darling, that's why I waved you down.
So she wound up typing in the barcodes on the number pad, which of course took forever. I won't bore you further. I finally got my groceries into my cart.
Another employee saw me looking cross. "I'll never do that again," I growled, and told him the whole story. He was sympathetic. Meanwhile the next woman in line started her order and hit the same wall. "Lots of luck, lady," sez moi, fleeing to the parking lot.
What an exciting life I lead.

Specifically the ones that were tweeting loudly at around 5 am and woke LC up, and then he came in to me to tell me he was awake.
Grrrrr.

Nope, still nothing. 6 days left and my replacement starts on Monday so I'm planning on doing the bare minimum.
Obviously the conscience will kick in sometime and I'll be dotting every i and crossing every t. Sigh.

Getting up in the middle of the night to start a 7-hour round trip for a court case in the middle of nowhere, which was subsequently cancelled. And not being paid for my time.
And cramps.

Still the sodding festival stuff. Can someone say 'self fulfilling prophecy'? If you say it is at risk due to poor ticket sales, then don't make any further announcements, well guess what, people will stop buying tickets.
Doubt I will ever go to anything Maddeh organises again.

That the Student Finance Authority is blocking paying out the first tranche of my grant money (which is now a week overdue) as they still need to "verify my National Insurance Number" - the very same one that I gave them way back in June. Bastards

That's the problem with lies - it's hard to keep your story straight. Been there, done that, try not to anymore.

Yes, I know, it is my third rant about the festival. But geez, if one of the headlining bands performing puts on their FB page that the festival is cancelled but don't worry, they will still come to Oz, and yet the promoter is silent and is still selling tickets, surely that is worth a rant. The cynic in me wonders if he is the ticket money on short term bonds or something so can't actually give any refunds yet and is holding off on cancelling til he has money.
Note to any aussies - don't go to anything ever put together by AJ Maddah if you want to be sure of it going ahead.

the person who hired me for this job, and to whom i was brutally honest about my timeline, has not told anyone that i am leaving next month. they are all expecting me to be here while the kids write exams, to mark my exams, and to do up my reports.
it's making me look bad.

I have two tickets to see Grease in Sydney next month that I bought early during pre-sales. We will not get back from the UK until the day after and I'm trying to sell them but nobody wants to buy them! I've tried facebook, emailing around my work and Gumtree and I'm not getting one bit of interest! It's really pissing me off that I may not only have to waste the tickets I've paid for but I also really wanted to go to see the show!

also, through his work, my partner and i have been 'invited' to a big swanky event with a strict dress code and protocol. it is tomorrow, tuesday. 1. the event has been planned for months, and it's likely our group was on the guest list for a couple of months. he got the invite friday afternoon. it's not in english. no translation was offered. 2. i would have to wear all white. white looks awful on me. the man giving my partner the women's dress code said, 'oh, just a long dress, not a skirt.' but the outfit in question is actuall a floor length skirt topped by a kneed length tunic. so, not a dress. 3. the white dresses available in shops are literally sacks. to get a nice one requires a tailor. tailors locally have been booked solid for a month--mainly because of this event. hundreds of women will go. 4. someone offered me a dress, but she is slimmer than me, especially in the shoulders and hips. i would be in a sausage casing. i'm going to babysit for someone else who is going.

The happy clappers who teach les mills classes - it really is like a cult at times. God forbid anyone dares say something negative about the classes even if it is actuality constructive.
I do like teaching the classes and apparently I'm alright at it (even if I do feel a bit fake at times) but some others who teach the programs really could do with another interest or two.....

I fell over In a fountain Being dragged by a puppy I then got jumped on by other puppies They thought it was a game I'm in pain.
Then I missed a connecting bus home so I walked home. Up hills and around hills but at least I got a fantastic view of the harbour as I walked.
But I'm now super tired and sore.
And I missed Person of Interest.
Pissed off and sore.

Note to any aussies - don't go to anything ever put together by AJ Maddah if you want to be sure of it going ahead. Adding Kiwis to this list as well, as apparently even though he was going broke over harvest, he just bought out one of the Big Day Out organisers. That will now be fucked.

I agree with you Q, and especially when the meeting is being held at my home on a work night. Someone turned up half an hour earlier once, with an extra visitor. I was still eating dinner. I told them the proper time and asked them to come back then, as I was not ready to cope! Silly woman just assumed the meeting as at the same time as something else, unrelated, that we both attended on a different night She didn't bother to look at the instructions.
