I have a thing that should be making me REALLY happy. And I'm a bit 'meh'. Someone offered on my flat (10 days after putting it up for sale, and for £1500 more than I would have taken).
I should been turning cartwheels.
Also, yesterday we saw a house we want to put an offer on. So, apparently do a lot of people. I'm not in love with the house, but it ticks a lot of boxes and I could work with it. Himself, he is in love with it. We are never going to fall in love with the same thing (unless I win lotto and our budget doubles). So I'm on board with the whole offering thing.

I accepted the offer on my flat. And I am, now, genuinely pleased about it. Not least because I sank a lot of time and effort and a bit of cash in to making it 'sellable' and it feels really bloody good that the work paid off. 10 days to sell a flat in this economy at this time of year is no bad.
So that's what's making me happy. AND it means that 2 months from now my financial position will look a whole lot happier.

Wow - there's not a lot perking us up at the moment, is there. I have a question: Think I can put a hot tub on our (subject to the usual lawyering) new roof? (photos 3 and 4)

yay! Weeg - they accepted!! It looks gorgeous! I love the windows and the roof deck. Looks like a hot tub would definitely fit but I have no idea how you check to see if the weight would be supported. Congrats!

Oops - got so happy for weeg that I forgot to post the reason I come into this thread in the first place.
I have to work today but that isn't why I'm happy - they asked for volunteers to work 12-6 so I offered to work it because (a) it makes me look good in the boss's eyes and (b) it gave me the whole morning to go shopping and do my running around. Which brings to the other reason I am happy - the stores weren't as crazy or as hectic as I thought they might be so we got everything done we needed to do. yay us!

The building plans will be in the city archive - and I trained as a structural engineer! Actually, it's probably designed for 1m of snow, so a hot tub should be fine. Mind you, Himself wants a pool table, which is more of a weight issue I think. And yes, it is cheap for what it is. It's not the most salubrious part of town.

Well, if a decision needs to be made between a hot tub and a pool table, please mark my ballot with an X next to the hot tub option.

Every year I get a 'wrong number' call from an elderly Scottish lady trying to reach her daughter. Usually around Christmas and what I assume is the daughter's birthday. She's always very apologetic, I always reassure her it's ok.
I mentioned to my boyfriend a few days ago i hadn't had the annual wrong number call, hoping she was ok. She called today. Apologetic as always, she said she struggles with her phone as she is disabled. I reassured her it was ok, Christmas pleasantries were exchanged, and i ended the call. Afterwards i started thinking maybe she'd not managed. So i called her back, offering to call het daughter on her behalf if she'd not got through, and ask her to call her back. The lady's carer had already arrived and helped her, but she was stunned I'd offered, and moved nearly to tears. I didn't expect such a reaction so i was also quite moved in return. I don't know why but amidst being at work today dealing with a massive cold, this has cheered me up no end.

Love the look of that flat weeg. I had a successful trip to London and back to drop sproglet at the airport. I got back before the storms/train cancellations.

That is making me happy too, picky! Way to spread the joy!
My happy thing for the day is that my husband made it to Calgary. (it is also making me a little sad because we aren't together for Christmas but we'll survive.)

Next year, you should call her to wish her a Merry Christmas and let her know you're thinking about her. How sweet that would be.
