Storms passing to the north and south of both our places, though we did cop a little rain up north yesterday. More than a little humid.

Mum's place was hit by lightning and it fried her phone. It's a townhouse type set up and the person in the unit below hers said he could see a blue U shape of lightning coming through his window.
Thankfully the phone is the only thing damaged, and mum is okay.

I'll say!
Our thunderstorm is about to begin. Let's hope no lightning strikes here.

And late news, we've just had a severe thunderstorm warning for our beach. Ah well - I cleaned out the gutters and the guttering yesterday.

Hope it isn't too bad when it hits your way. It has settled down again here for now.

Looking at the radar, it seems to be a lot stronger down your way and quite likely missing us. Thunderstorms are so localised.

Earlier tonight we had bouts of thunder, and at one point a lightning flashed just outside my house, with the thunder rolling at the same time. I'm not scared of thunder, but this time I actually closed my eyes and covered my ears automatically, as it was so close.

It's too warm again this winter. Wetter than usual. Succession of storms from the Atlantic.

34 Celsius outside, 32 inside. I'm thinking of turning on the air conditioning.

Air con is on here. It is only 30C, but I got a call from the school to pick LC up early as he wasn't feeling well. Possibly a delayed reaction to Monday's surgery. So I took pity on him and have put the aircon on. As it could also have been the heat, he spent all lunch time running around in the playground and then started to feel ill. Most likely a combo of heat and post anaesthetic etc

Heavy rains predicted for late this afternoon.
Current mantra: it's not snow, it's not snow....

Well, now it is snow, the heavy wet kind.
The plow guy will come and do our driveway later today. It's still coming down hard. Good thing I don't really need to leave the house today.
~~~~~~
a few hours later: the snow has stopped. The white-coated trees are bathed in a beautiful pink light as the sunset begins. Let's hope "red sky at night, sailor's delight."
blowing. in fact, yesterday evening the back fence blew down. the developer hasn't been round to remove it, and it's the border of our parking area, so everyone has to park out front.
worryingly, i think the developers are going to try and pin it on one of our neighbours, who has removed his section of the fence (three gardens and a parking lot all share the same fence, with the parking in the middle). however, the bit of fence between his non-fence and the parking fence is still standing. i've taken pictures in case they try to charge him.
ironically, we complained about 6 months ago that the fence was rotten, and got no response. our neighbour was planning to replace the fence at his own cost, using proper concrete posts rather than the rotten wooden ones.
Very windy here today too but the sun has just come out in all its glory, just in time for me to wander down to the market square at the end of our street to watch the Karneval prInce get handed the keys to the town.
More snow predicted starting early tomorrow morning, around 6 or 7am, ending maybe 24 hours later. Schools will be closed, etc. Annoying because I will have to reschedule an important medical appointment. Grrrr.
