Weird tzarine - I came into fj just now to write something in this thread, which you just posted in 20 minutes ago after weeks of inactivity. (Wtf is "wedding day skin"?)
I learned the names of all the Spice Girls because we have been watching these YouTube videos where these kids interview people from punk and metal bands and the last question they always ask them is "what are the names of all of the Spice Girls." Plus the lead singer from Slayer seems like a super nice guy.

this: Despite being taught in school we have five senses - sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound - humans really have over 20. For example, Proprioception is the ability to tell where your body parts are in relation to other body parts, even when you can't see them, and Equilibrioception is basically your sense of balance, which allows you to stay upright when doing important things like walking.

Banana peel is good for mosquito bites, stops the itching. Apparently.

I learnt about shrubs (the drink) today. I had actually seen the word on a cocktail menu recently but didn't know what it was. Then I found some at a market today and sampled it. Very nice.

It is an old fashioned way to preserve fruit syrup.. Pre preservatives and refrigeration. The concentrate is fruit, (raspberries work well), sugar and vinegar. I seem to remember that it is brought to a boil and then left to sit for a bit. After the prescribed period of time, the liquid is strained and bottled. This liquid can be mixed with ginger ale or other fizzy stuff, and alcoholic additions can begin. I like using the raspberry or blackberry concentrate in many other applications.. Like raspberry vinegar in a salad dressing..

Yes, and this one used native fruits. So instead of raspberry it was riberry, the fruit of the lilly pilly tree. And the one I ended up buying was indigenous rainforest lime.
The taste test at the markets was just mixed with water but they had some lovely sounding cocktail recipes as well.

Love the idea of using riberry and native lime. Was it finger lime?

No, rainforest lime. I love finger limes, would have bought more than one bottle if they were using that.

I've been learning all about proprioception because mini1 has some issues with his so we are currently learning how to train it to work better.

Plus the lead singer from Slayer seems like a super nice guy. Slayer are one of my favourite bands to see live--they play well and always appear to be thoroughly enjoying it! And I've dubbed the singer the grandad of metal purely because he has the air of a cuddly teddy bear much in contrast to the singing.

Gosh, with the possible exceptions of Bertram, Clarence, Horace and Cyril I would be happy to have a grandchild with any of those names. Admittedly, a lot of them were names that were common when I went to school in the 50s.

That there are some seriously weird people out there (well, in some way that’s not new). Gt an email today from a lady I Tokyo who wants to adopt one of our rescue cats as she feels a “strong spiritual connection” and would be happy to pay any transport costs from the UK to Japan. Ok…not!

i learned that aged 6.
today: before planning your entire day around the roasting of a 2.5kg cut of meat, check to see that the piece you have is, in fact, that size. and not, perhaps, 750g.
