Yes, just now a crown has broken off with the last bits of my tooth - will need surgical removal, have consultation next week. Tooth is root canal treated so no nerve pain but constant throbbing aching pain, so not sure aerial yoga with lots of immersions is the way to go, did some forward folds at lunch and the pain immediately went up. Just so typical, I finally get excited about something and now this! besides the fact that the surgical removal of the tooth has me shaking with fear already. As to quackery - facebook advertising showed me some sheets you should put on your bed that supposedly "earth you" - called "Earthing sheets". I didn't dare click on the link to not get anymore of these crazy ads, but the reviews cracked me up - some raving obviously fake ones, but some really satirical ones, with people saying how they lie in the earth outside instead, or run an earthing cable to the plug to feel better, just brilliant. www.groundology.co.uk/about-grounding

Not sure I’d trust an 86-year-old male doctor.

Roms, just ask the dentist if you can be wrapped in one of those sheets during the procedure. Sorted.

rom (sorry for missing that before), those reviews sound hilarious. I hope your tooth thing has been sorted now - you really don't need one more thing to deal with, I'm so sorry.

I so need to go to this workshop - not (from local town activities facebook page)
Dear Friends, I hope this message finds you well. In these challenging times, I've observed many people courageously confronting difficulties and seeking answers that demand clear thinking and an honest dialogue with the truth they hold within their hearts. One key insight I've gained is that the divine and sacred nature of the universe yearns to collaborate with the world through our actions. We are not alone, and there is an underlying strength that connects us all, playing out through our stories. You are resilient even when you feel disempowered. Reconnecting with your life's purpose is vital for uncovering the hidden secrets that reside within each of us. I invite you to explore the following opportunities that will guide you deeper into self-discovery. These events focus on the exploration of Sacred Magic and the unveiling of inner truth. Sacred Magic Weekend Workshop Join me on the 3rd and 4th of June in XXX, a mere thirty minutes from London via Kings Cross. This weekend workshop will present the knowledge and practices I have honed over three decades in Sacred Magic. The workshop aims to provide a strong foundation for those intrigued by this path. Our ancestors persevered throughout human history, ensuring their lineage continued to contribute to our species' narrative. You embody their triumph. The truth within your heart persistently seeks to unfold, yet often encounters barriers in the form of pain, suffering, and disempowering systems. Sacred Magic and the two-fold path offer a methodology to explore the wonder and beauty of our existence in harmony with the sacred and divine. During this weekend filled with wonder, ritual, and storytelling, you will immerse yourself in the profound truth of Sacred Magic. Engaging in group work, you will delve into the core of your true story and participate in potent ceremonies and rituals that reveal the inherent gifts of existence. The workshop will cover: * Communion with spirit * The imaginal as a landscape of truth * The two-fold sincerity * Navigating fate * Ritual and ceremony as language * Transformation of trauma * The wilderness as a portal to numinous encounters * Love as an anchor point * Punk Magick * Ancestral medicine * Freedom My work over the past 35 years has centered on the sacred and divine, exploring landscapes of wonder through writing, filmmaking, art, magic, and ritual. This workshop represents both a culmination and a fresh start in my journey as an artist and magician. Booking Information The Sacred Magic Workshop standard rate is £325 inc. VAT per person. Discounts are available: * Early Bird Offer: book early and save off our standard workshop price. * Book by 30/4/23 - £244 * Alumni: a 10% discount is available to participants who have previously attended. * Referrals: for every participant you refer who attends the workshop, you will receive a 10% discount.

All the doctors look qualified. It's a dedicated maternity center so that delivering mothers don't have to be exposed to all the stuff that goes on in large hospitals in New York. There's nothing wrong with this. Back in the 50s my mother gave birth at Women's and Children's in Brooklyn. A dedicated maternity hospital. There was a time when dedicated maternity hospitals were the norm. Ever watch "Call The Midwife". Yeah. So this isn't a bad thing.

Maybe no one is in there because it's super expensive and not covered by insurance, so it's wonderful but only accessible to rich people

This is the second inquest this month locally into deaths after the use of Kambo frog poison. Interestingly, I was listening to this story on the radio yesterday while driving to the school in the village where the second one occurred. And I can vouch for the fact that ambulances take a lot less than an hour to get to the school, even yesterday, when there was a long scenic detour due to a bridge repair. www.abc.net.au/news/2023-05-08/inquest-jarred-antonovich-death-ayahuasca-kambo-frog-poison/102318674

"Ooh, look, a toxin which has, over 1000s of years, become a regular part of this culture's rituals. Sure, we can have a sesh of that during our mini-break, Tuesday night? What could possibly go wrong?!"
I have a lot of respect for Ayahusca, I've met people who have had incredible break throughs with it, but it's a powerful chemical. It's not just something to try because you've already done shrooms.

Any comments on the following, copied from a Facebook post where someone was criticising the inclusion of cultural dancing in church services in Solomon Islands. Note, many people there are very susceptible to conspiracy theories etc.
“Most music worldwide has been tuned to 440 hertz since the International Standards Organization (ISO) endorsed it in 1953. The recent rediscoveries of the vibratory / oscillatory nature of the universe indicate that this contemporary international concert pitch standard may generate an unhealthy effect or anti-social behaviour in the consciousness of human beings.
A=432 Hz, known as Verdi's 'A4' is an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. Music based on 432 Hz transmits beneficial healing energy, because it is a pure tone of math fundamental to nature.”

This is pretty extensive: ReutersIt sounds like they think the music produces a vibration, when in fact, it's just that we're all agreeing on what one particular note sounds like, so that we can all easily play in tune with each other.

Thank you Sprite. I’ve copied the link and the verdict and included it in a reply to the post. Trying to educate people in a very superstitious culture can be very difficult, but if a few read and accept it, that can be a win.

It's one of those things that sounds ominous and scary, but it literally musicians just trying to agree on a tuning note!

Trying to educate people in a very superstitious culture can be very difficult, but if a few read and accept it, that can be a win. So the person who used this as an argument cites this as evidence. develop your "crystalline abilities"
"Not only is this book a primer on crystal healing and its relationship to metaphysical energies, it is also a home-study workshop on developing your crystalline abilities. It was written not only to answer your questions about crystalline energy, but to also help you develop your own intuition with the crystals so that you can pick up any crystal you see and determine its metaphysical properties!"

Okay so one of the guys in the office told me about how his wife is taking workshops to develop her "channeling" skills to become a medium. He sounded skeptical and made me promise not to laugh. But I laughed when I went home that day because he couldn't see me.
I wonder if his wife felt me laughing at her.

years ago I did two yoga retreats with a great down to earth teacher. Seems she has now lost it and gone over to the adrk side - aka quackery:
"The Fire element carries a potent, transformative energy. It’s the force that alchemizes our inner chemicals and converts food into energy. Fire burns impurities and fiercely guides our way towards lightful evolution. This element is so powerful it requires wise balancing. If we underestimate its’ potency, we may end up burning ourselves. Embodied at its rightful place and time, it adds piercing clarity & determination to our experience… Ready to step into the fire of transformation? Join us for our Summer Solstice Celebration "
What is alchemizing anyway? And what has fire to do with digestion? FFS.
Won't attend a workshop with her again...

Alchemy is a medieval chemistry. Alchemists focused on the transmutation of metals, literally turning lead into gold. For a while it must have looked possible because if you heat up certain ores you can end up with a bit of gold.
So before scientists figured out the periodic table and realised that wasn't how things worked.
But now it sounds like magical chemistry and lost knowledge. It isn't.

Our bodies are pretty good at converting food into energy without additional woo...
I love yoga, but it's definitely a risk factor for quackery.

They are both largely oxidation reactions. quatr.us/biology/digestion-oxidation-reaction.htmYou eventually exhale the CO2 and pee out the excess water. Fire does basically the same thing to sugar molecules such as the cellulose in wood, but faster. She isn't just making stuff up, or not entirely.

Good analogy vinny - but I think my digestion works quite fine without the element fire in my body, whatever that is...
Harmless babbling, yes - and I love yoga - but this whole esoteric rubbish that more and more teachers subscribe to is really off putting. Went to a yoga class a few weeks back, and during meditation at the end she started with a really bad poem about star sign...I mean, if you want to combine yoga with something esoteric at least stick with the yogic texts - not include the western concept of star signs. Put me of the class for good.
