Been feeling a little poorly today, just run down with a random virus. It's cold, I'm tired, the baby has been awake most of the day and I just needed something comforting to eat.
Having just rummaged through the cupboards in my super model worthy kitchen (i.e. NOTHING IN THEM) I stumbled across a lone bag of buttered popcorn!
I heated that bad boy up and would like to declare this my ultimate comfort food!
What do you usually reach for?

for "real" meals - either homemade mac 'n cheese or sheppards pie. other stuff would be rice pudding or oatmeal (well, any hot cereal really)

Tuna Noodle Casserole (1 box kraft mac and cheese, 1 can cream/mushroom soup, 1 can tuna, some peas - bake her up) it's a Midwestern thing

Tuna Noodle Casserole (1 box kraft mac and cheese, 1 can cream/mushroom soup, 1 can tuna, some peas - bake her up) Stuff of nightmares for me. It's lunch time and it's cold and wet outside. There's nothing appetizing close enough to go to without bundling up.

This time of year - soups or stew. Today I'm having chicken with roasted root veggies and a salad.

I want vanilla ice cream with hot fudge. Real hot fudge not chocolate syrup.

Mac and cheese or rotisserie chicken or mashed potato or some combination of them works for me.

My freezer is filled with empanadas, which I cook when I feel like not cooking/preparing something else. When I want to eat something it is usually pizza or something sweet, I respect my diet and go for a piece oc cheese or a chocoarroz instead.

Pot roast with glazed carrots and potatoes slathered in gravy and butter. Or thick crust pepperoni pizza.

Gravy and mashed potatoes, spaghetti topped with parmigiano and olive oil, anything with baked squash, thick creamy soups. Basically things that are starchy, creamy and full of fat. Yum.

Mine would be a greasy pepperoni pizza with lots of cheese or homemade stew
Sweet would be hot chocolate fudge cake or brownie with ice cream

Padthai, Midwestern? sounds like hotdish to me!
Comfort food is chicken noodle soup, preferably homemade, or cereal with milk/yoghurt and bananas, or blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, or bobotie, or lasagne, or oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Mashed potato. I keep instant mash in the house in case of emergencies. Or cauliflower cheese or macaroni cheese.
Did we all have the same mum? So many votes for the same foods.

LOL Hobo, nope, I just think there is something about the potato that makes us feel good. There isn't a single way of cooking a potato that I don't love!

Magic mash: mashed potato with bacon bits and Dijon mustard mixed in then the top crisped under the grill.
