does anyone have recommendations for hotels in Rome? We're going to be there in August for 3 nights. looking for somewhere central, 3-4 stars, around 150-200 Euro per night. not a hostel as neither of us are keen on them.
all suggestions gratefully received ;D

I stayed in the Hotel Regno and enjoyed the experience. Certainly central. Gets mixed reviews on T/A depending on whether people are used to smaller spaces as in Europe or large ones as in Asia.

We stayed here www.hotelmodigliani.com/ just a couple of weeks ago. I would recommend it. Plus points: good location, good breakfast, looks nice, quite small (only about 20 rooms). Minus: small rooms (we didn’t mind as we weren’t going to spend much time in the rooms), people on the reception had the habit of answering the phone and leaving you standing there.

trafalgar tours use Crowne Plaza St Peters Hotel
good and bad in that - good in that they have a certain standard bad that you will be sharing breakfast room with bus loads.

Hotel Fellinia short (like 2 minute) walk to the Trevi or the Piazza Barberini Metro. a 5 minute walk to the Spanish steps.

bumping this, because i'm heading there this march. we'll have 3-5 nights, not sure yet. any extra recommends? personally, i'd like somewhere we can just stroll through normal neighbourhoods, have coffees somewhere, buy deli food for packed lunches. i've got a mini guide book, which describes some neighbourhoods but of course is cheerfully positive.
it's march, so not counting on good weather.

Also, after going myself for early entry with a tour and hearing from others, do the Vatican museum in the afternoon, as late as you can to get through it all.
And don't miss the Borghese Galleries.
I'm only passing through so will probably just "Rome" around.

I stayed in Pratti last summer. Not a bad area.
I hope you both have a great time. Rome is one of my favorite cities (though last summer was really too crowded. But it sounds like Webs at least should be there at a better time). There’s so much to see, and there are so many beautiful spots.
I’ll second don’t miss Villa Borghese. The sculpture is spectacular. (I went there on a school trip at 17, and it made a huge impression.)

Sprite, well yeah. You go, you look. You throw a coin. You leave and go get Gelato.
But then again I found myself in front of the fountain at 10pm and no one else was there.
