Not a word that I like, but one that I seek. Is there a word that covers ones relationship to ones son in law's parents? I'll bet that the Germans have one, schweigersohnvater or schweigersohnmutter or similar? Can anybody think of something similar in English?
While I'm at it, is there a similar word in Italian?

Spanish: consuegro/a/os (he, she, both)
Yiddish: machutin/macheteniste/machutonim (he, she, both/generic inlaws)
English is very deficient in kinship terms altogether. In-laws covers a lot of ground.

Bichon Frise
I was having a cappuccino from the Marysville Country Bakery, sitting at an outdoor table. The tables consisted of a timber table with a long bench seat either side which could seat up to three/four people. On the opposite side of the table were an older couple with their little dog. The female got up and went to get their teas. Two cakes in front of them on the table, one a chocolate eclair, the other a vanilla slice. Both cakes were cut in half and the man asked the white dog which cake it would prefer.
The wee doggie must have told him because he started feeding the dog chocolate eclair with a spoon. The woman came back and went off crook - the dog was supposed to eat vanilla slice! They shared the cakes. It was amusing. I commented on the cute little poodle and asked how old it was.
The woman became rather rude and haughtily said “It’s not a poodle, he’s a bitchenhet” . Wh? Whar? Sounded like she said a bitch on heat! I said it looks like a poodle. She’s not a poodle she’s a bithcnchet?! Wha??? Eh? It looks ie a poodle says I. I thought the old girl was going to have a fit and asked her to repeat slowly what she had said. She did - she’s a Bichon Frise. I’d never heard of a Bichon Frise and said I thought she had said a bitch on heat. She wasn’t very pleased. Quite snotty, acted like she was Lady Muck. It still looks like a poodle though.
Whenever I hear Bichon Frise, I always think bitch on heat.
True story.

If there was an English word for your son-in-law's parents, it would have come up in the news when Tr*mp pardoned his machutin, the unspeakable Charles Kushner.

Sounds like the silly couple had more money than sense. Those cakes were really bad for the dog, and chocolate is poison.

not really a favorite word, just one i had to think of recently, for whatever strange reason: sollbruchstelle (predetermined breaking point).
else, a north german word: flitzpiepe. kind of a nitwit, but friendlier. my brother likes saying it to my nephew when he does something silly.

Labyrinth: I saw a video set in a church. There are no fixed seats, and the stone floor is a labyrinth for year-round indoor walking meditation.

tzarine - I have no idea where that church was, and the labyrinth had nothing to do with the video. It was just in the line of sight and nobody even mentioned it. The video was a concert and the acoustics were excellent. I'm sure the stone floor helped.

more an expression than a word - during the main homeschooling phase people often jokingly spoke of "kinder lüften" (airing the children, like you'd air laundry or something similar) - like you'd say before making dinner you'd first have to "air the children" (meaning, they've been indoors all day, you need to go outside with them first) ...
(is there a similar expression in english?)
