Skedaddle.
I think that’s how it’s spelled. Skedaddle is one of my Mum’s words. Go on, skedaddle. A nice way of saying get lost. Disappear! Shoo or scram!

Anagnorosis.
Q: The French meaning is DIY/jury-rigging? In English it comes up in postmodern lit crit, and therefore I couldn't tell you what it means.
Edit: I looked it up. Yes, DIY in French. And:
"In literature, bricolage is affected by intertextuality, the shaping of a text's meanings by reference to other texts."
which clears that up nicely.

Oh yeah, I've seen the term "bricolage" - isn't the idea sort of a patching together from various sources, kind of what you're getting at there? I was never entirely sure.

Anagnorisis: The point in a play, novel, etc., in which a principal character recognises or discovers another character's true identity or the true nature of their own circumstances. "We see the tormented figure of Oedipus come to recognise the truth in a classical moment of anagnorisis"

Vinny, what does that mean in English? Ozzie, your guess is as good as mine. Also, YIL, after that post, how to spell anagnorisis.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious you can try saying it backwards which is dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirupes, but that just sounds silly.

floccinaucinihilipilification and antidisestablishmentarianism
Because I remember my big sister teaching me them as really long words.
Also since it's nearly the season: Pebernødder as it reminds me of the minis having hysterics at my attempts to pronounce them exactly as Danish folk do.

Oh yes, I remember spelling "antidisestablishmentarianism" out loud when I was in elementary school. Once a nerd, always a nerd. Never seen that flocci one though; I had to look it up! I was assuming it was some sort of chemical process.

I once taught a child who thought she was dyslexic how to read antidisestablishmentarianism by sounding it out. Simple phonics.
