I'm having another Nothing But Radiohead day, which is an indication of me being very stressed out. There's just something about twitching and moaning along with this stuff that helps somehow.

Who could ever forget Freddie Mercury? He had a four octave voice and was one of the best all time singer/entertainers.

One of my favourite bands have just released a new song from an upcoming album, and it is their first new music in about 5 years. So I've been playing that a lot.

This John Cale version of Hallelujah is still my favourite.

Wooooo yes Phar, that's the only acceptable version other than the original.
I love John Cale, I saw him live once about 400 years ago.

I wasn’t sure about the clip you posted, Phar. This one seems better. It’s a song I’ve sung with at least two choirs, although the last one only had the Shrek version of the words, which leaves out a lot of the meaning.

I love his voice, although when I saw him five years ago, I was the youngest person in the audience by quite some years.

While watching Vincenzo on Netflix, the Intermezzo from Cavelleria Rusticana was played, so I just had to go and listen to it properly. It is one of the most beautiful and poignant pieces of music and has been a favourite since first hearing it years ago. I listened to four different versions before choosing the one I believe is the best one. It has a sweetness to the music which reminds me of hearing it when I was in Italy.

Working on Sunday, so I need some focus music, as sprite said the other day, so I'm listening to a mid-70s King Crimson record that I haven't really listened to much since back in the day ("Starless and Bible Black"). I'd heard this particularly intense song on the radio the other day, which caused me to download the record from iTunes. I got rid of my vinyl copy ages ago, and our turntables aren't hooked up right now anyway.
I didn't used to like the slow tracks on that record very much when I was younger, I'd skip them and just listen to this intense fast stuff. I still like the intense material better (e.g., the following), but I appreciate the other stuff more now.

As I was listening to André Rieu’s Figaro Cavatina, I kept seeing Robin Williams in my mind’s eye 👁 singing Figaro so I have included both.

"Reminiscent of Slint"? You've got my attention - thank you tucano!
Edited to add that I liked the screaming one better than the second one where I thought the vocals were maybe a little too gratuitously quirky for my current mood, but I'll give 'em another chance sometime when it isn't 8:00 in the morning

And on a completely different note, sometimes I fall down a 70s AOR hole. Is this yacht rock sprite?

Oh my tucano.
And speaking of the 1970s -- Today because I spend way too much time listening to Radiohead, I listened to the BBC Desert Island Discs with Thom Yorke and he had them play "After the Gold Rush" by Neil Young. This was my absolute favorite song when I was in 9th grade. I probably only hear it once a decade; it was great hearing it and made me realize that I've always liked whiny-sounding men singing vaguely portentous lyrics with interesting music in the background.

I’ve had an afternoon at the opera. Such beautiful voices... this aria, E Lucevan Le Stelle is from Puccini’s Tosca. Sung by the great Enrico Caruso in 1904, it has been digitally remastered.

My earworm. (currently the bass line from Bowie's 'Heroes'.) Not a bad one, if you have to have one! Don’t know Bowie’s Heroes, but for me, it’s Henry The Octopus ... Henry the Octopus lives down in the deep blue sea, Henry the Octopus he’s a friend to you and me...

Aww: if I listen to that I will cry jimm; that song always has that effect.
Today I listened to Radiohead all day again, so that's not interesting, never mind, move along.

Aww: if I listen to that I will cry jimm; that song always has that effect... I listened again just now and I cried too ... tears of melancholy joy. I was in New York the day he passed, and didn't find out till the next day - by then I was in Grindelwald Switzerland. I howled that night. So sad.

Yeah, I cried when I heard it too, and even sadder, I had to break it to pero that morning, who was into him even more than me. Plus at the time that song felt so strong in the context of all the creeping authoritarianism that was happening here and elsewhere, so now it really sets me off. Such a good song.

I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables sing by Anne Hathaway as Fantine is the best version in this writer’s humble opinion. It sends shivers down my spine and I get goosebumps each time I listen to her.
