Hi, this is Webs, wearing my admin cap. I wanted to welcome everyone to what I hope will be a new home. I know it's strange not seeing hundreds of existing posts but I'm hoping you all will change that. We've divided the "Nation" into 4 boards. The Library, for things we want to keep as reference, like book threads, Movie Reviews and the like. Travel, because that's really how we all got started together in the first place and as sources of knowledge, let's face it, we give the best advice. General is what it sounds like - general discussions about the color of your underwear, how to get grass stains out of your back and other stuff. Group Therapy is special. It's password protected. It's the safe place where, if you need it, you will have your hand held, sage advice given without any snark or fear. If you feel the need and don't have access, ask a mod. Please use this place just like you would if it were the WT. Post your joys, laughters, need for coffee. Or just to tell me to go jump in a lake

aww, c'mon viv - one or two, maybe?
Let's just say they either have to have brilliant minds or fabulous bodies - and if they can prove they have a combination of both, we'll let them serve us sparkly beverages and luscious foods.

Yes, boys are definitely allowed. If they're our Tree boys we'd love to see them. So yes.
No one is unwelcome (cough cough).

Neither of the other two sites felt like this one does. this feels so right. It's almost like 'home'. we have to round up the rest. Are the ' contentious' members invited? I hope so.

If I may be slightly contentious already, I was kinda offended on the MP by "hidden" and password protected sections. It just seems clichy and not welcoming. While I understand your reasoning behind it, might you reconsider the group therapy bit?

I think the point of the closed sections is that you can read all the posts on the main board without being a member. if people have sensitive stuff they want to keep private from non-signed up people, then they have that as an option.

While I understand your reasoning behind it, might you reconsider the group therapy bit? That's not the intention wombat. The intention is that there are times when all of need to vent something sensitive in an environment that is non-judgmental but still supportive. It's not the kind of thing everyone wants the world to be able to see. So it's secure for us and can't be seen or posted in by just fly by nighters. It has nothing to do with being clicquey. More with guarding your privacy. Also to make sure no one gets snarked in there. In a way, it's protection against getting Weberised. If you have something you need to vent let me know, I'll give you the password.

Thanks from me too Webs, and to Tart, Rez & Kneazle for the updates - I lurked a little at one of the other places but this is way better!
I like the password protected idea for the Group Therapy branch - the occasions I've needed to vent in the past everyone's been great until someone I've never heard of pops up and says 'Get the f*** over yourself', which I'm happy to take from Webs (in fact all of the regulars) but those posts get my back up and I just think 'Who the hell are you? Do you know the back story? No? Well sod off...'

Well even I would not be allowed to tell someone to "get the fuck over themselves" in there.

While I understand your reasoning behind it, might you reconsider the group therapy bit? I think that a password protected area is actually a good idea... kinda like a safe haven we just need to do it right so it is not cliquey (as it was never intended to be). It was borne of an expressed desire to have somewhere people can talk about personal/ private/ confidential stuff with out random trolls etc getting access to that information. I for one could do with feeling i have somewhere safe and supportive to discuss things from time to time and will not be comfortable doing that on an open/ public forum. love it! I do understand your concerns tho, but at the same time i think we can make it work xxx

finally approved and here I am - reading posts earlier in the day and it just seemed right. The Stew was too much YC and as I never really posted on YC didn't feel like one of the crowd. Meeting Pot - although they say they are ever so nice, I don't like their one rule for them and another rule for others. Thanks Webs - hope this is a success - I do feel at home
