The past few days at the beach there has been a lifesaver's tent up and perimeter flags saying it is the aerial surveillance (they are trialling using drones). And signs saying beware of drones. And every day there is one life guard sitting in the tent, with drone on their lap, and never using it! We have never seen it in action, and we've spent a lot of time at the beach.

I checked on an account that followed me on Blusky, and there's a stream of video mash ups, like Beyonce Single Ladies to the Ducktales theme, and I'm laughing so hard that I have to put the page away so I can get ready for a student.

Was at the library this morning while a class of 10 yr olds were there. One of the kids discovered the romance novels, and there was a stream of furtive looking children coming to at one of the racier covers.

This is kinda groovy to watch, especially look out for the weird data jumps during covid - we're going to see that happening in data for ever!

And yeah, that tickle and pulse here for banking content. You have, like Youtube videos, Austin, your flight out name content. As a content is of unified king. Liisa’s comment in another thread that a second person had been hired to replace her… she was either superwoman at her job or else so good that her workload went unnoticed.

speaking of German... Schadenfreude at the office.
Big banana veto'd a thing, one of her underlings asked me for the thing today...and I tried not to sound too delighted when I explained why not... the outcome is that their site looks terrible. which makes me laugh even more.

sprite - "Q, I struggle to believe that in the UK, more couples meet at church than at college!" what's the percentage of college-educated people in the UK? Too tired to look it up just now, but I suspect there's a higher percentage of single people going to college than church. unless they go to college then start at a new church where they meet someone?

Liisa’s comment in another thread that a second person had been hired to replace her… she was either superwoman at her job or else so good that her workload went unnoticed. lol thank you sophie! Yeah, part of it is that I'd been there so long that a lot of it I could do in my sleep. But also, much of what Person 2 has been hired to do is stuff that I was stuck with because although I didn't really know what I was doing with that stuff, everyone else was even worse; I just managed to come up with kludges and workarounds to fake it. When I left I urged my boss to hire someone else who knows the computer stuff that you really need for getting those systems to work well instead of just faking it like I did. Ha, so now I am meeting with her and am going to say "ok the reason this all is so crappy is because they had ME working with the software firm to design it"

Laughing at my naivety, we're probably going to do a day trip to Milan on Tuesday from our accommodation in the lake district. I thought "Oh, I'll just go online to see if I can pre-book tickets to get into see Da Vinci's The Last Supper". Ha!, they are completely booked out until at least the end of January.

Laughing in shock more than humour. I was sorting through a donation from a very elderly person; it was a little sad to see her entire life in books. I was about to put a children's book, 'Lickle Tickle' in the kids box, and thought I'd read a bit.
Story 1: Tickle and the black baby I opened to the middle of it, and within 3 pages found 4 examples of blantantly racist language and several more racist innuendos. So I understand a little more why my inlaws find certain language hard to give up--it was part of their moral education!
Book went in the pulping box.
