But… the fat is why you eat bacon in the first place
Nah it’s ok, we all have our “things”

There are two types of food trucks in the UK. One is by the side of the road, and does basically soft rolls with something (egg, bacon, sausage, haggis) fried, and ketchup or brown sauce. They will also do tea, and instant coffee. Some of these are quite good for a cheap and simple small meal, and others just rely on hot grease to provide all the flavour.
The other types are often quite eclectic; malaysian, japanese noodles, vegan quiches, different flavour of mac/cheese... They are as expensive as eating in a proper restaurant, so not really a daily lunch option. They often set up on a Friday near office buildings, when people are in the mood for a treat.

YEs our food trucks are more like the latter kind that sprite mentioned. Mostly various asian foods. On the takeaways front we have italian, thai, indian (multiple variations), pub food, burgers, turkish, chinese, argentinian, mexican.. and fast food places like McDs, burger king, pizza places, etc. Oh, vietnamese. And then 'kiwi' takeaways which do fish & chips, budget burgers, toasted sandwiches. And 'taco' places that aren't really any particular cuisine. My favourite is the thai street food van that does an amazing pulled pork with salad in thai-style roti.

We had Japanese takeaway last night - I hadn't been feeling well and just was not up to cooking. As it was, I couldn't eat much, so had the leftover katsu curry for lunch!

It's hot and I don't feel like cooking. A food truck, a restaurant delivery, a wandering pie seller would all be welcomed, but I'm 20km out of town, so I have Buckleys.

Unfortunately around here we only have the first type of foodtruck sprite mentions - and I'll be damned if I spend £4 for a soggy roll with greasy bacon!

I'm insufficiently cheap - I'd spend £10 I wanted a soggy roll with greasy bacon badly enough.
We have swanky food trucks, but they aren't as prevalent as they were in their heyday. Lots of them are turning into little restaurants like the good Vietnamese one that used to be in the neighborhood did.

I ordered 4 people's worth of Indian food two days ago. (Which tends to make 6 or 7 meals really.) Because I have an obnoxious deadline and will be working all weekend. So it was worth the extravagance - for having nice food on hand and not having to cook.

I do like that "buying time" psw. Yes, often when we get takeaway it is because I have enough energy left to either cook or eat, but not do both.

Exactly. This week promises to be both hot and busy, so I’ve made sure the freezer is stocked with a variety of things I can microwave, when I don’t have the energy to cook from scratch.

I am so tired of cleaning my kitchen with all of the cooking I do. I am sure part of it is the way I don't clean up immediately. After eating I really like to relax.

I'm so spoiled by pero doing all the dishes since he's retired and I'm not yet! I much prefer cooking to cleanup.

Cooking for one requires both set-up and clean-up, which explains a lot of my takeout.
I don't do a thorough cleanup after every meal, but do try not to leave the kitchen a mess overnight. Very depressing to wake up to chaos. I put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher - unless I haven't unloaded it yet - and if a cooking pot is really in need of a scrubbing I at least leave it soaking so it won't get all crusty by morning.

We still don't have a working dishwasher since pero is perfectly happy to do them by hand. If I have to go back to washing dishes, we'll be getting one pretty soon!
oh my we are SO lazy about home maintenance

My problem is my back. I can’t clean up as I go, because my back gets too painful to stand for long. I need a kitchen stool, but there is no room in the budget for one at present.

I bought a fridge full of groceries with the intention of making my fabulous beef stew.
But I fell asleep and it's too late to start. So I'll make it tomorrow and order in something that includes a milk shake.
Because I want a chocolate milk shake.

I bought a lovely buttery, heart attack inducing, high fat content, fluffy scrambled egg and bacon, dripping with fat in a croissant and couldn’t finish the thing. I felt a little sick from all the lovely unhealthiness so didn’t finish it. There was spinach and mayo in it too. The mayo quite ruined it.

I totally don’t get the need to add mayo to anything!

I love mayo! On burgers, in tuna salad and egg salad, mixed with dijon as a topping for baked fish, mixed with dijon and egg yolk to make deviled eggs, I dip french fries in it, put on turkey sandwiches, meatloaf sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, fried egg sandwiches....
Not that I've had a meatloaf sandwich since I was 10 years old (when was the last time I had any meatloaf at all?) but I loved it with mayo and salt and pepper.

A touch of mayo for moisture if needed, but not a drowning.
