wow, Liiisa, that sounds fabulous! Where did you get it? I'd love to try one. Southern food is scarce, if it exists at all, in the Boston area.

Yesterday was the run to the GP with Mum.
It was a really hot day and so rather than go out to one of 'our' restaurants, I picked up Chinese takeaway to share.

I am addicted to Weis passionfruit and coconut bars - I try not to eat them EVERY day, but when it's predicted to be 43 degrees, what can I do?

we got döner kebab at imren grill (a small local chain) today - it's quite tasty ... i kind of thought i'd end up with 1.5 döner (or half one for lunch tomorrow if i only eat one) - but a. ended up eating almost her entire döner ...

Sort of takeout - we're having asparagus mini-quiches that I picked up at the farmers' market a couple of weeks ago and put in the freezer. They're quite tasty.

WE got iceblocks/icecreams yesterday after school as it was really hot. Unfortunately the one the younger child chose for the elder was rejected so she got another one, and I had to eat the rejected one :-) I'm not sure why I don't eat iceblocks more often in hot weather. it was very refreshing (a fruit ice thing but not a fruju for the kiwis)

Also a first world problem; we're going out for Valentine's dinner tonight, and partner booked. He couldn't get a decent time from any of the 4 options I suggested, so we're eating at a really nice curry house.
But I want a curry. Maybe the Waaaaaaahhhmbulance will drive me to the restaurant.

Going alone to dimsum is no fun. I know a good place that serves all week and has a parking lot, but I need to corrall one or two companions. FWP.
But yesterday I ate alone at an Indian buffet - that works for variety.

Time was the Chinese place in my office building had a dim sum variety lunch platter, which was doable alone because it was a little bento type thing with a selection of different pieces. But because of the drop in people eating lunch in restaurants during COVID, they took that item off the menu, which is sad and it means I sort of am bored by that restaurant now and all I ever go out for is pizza.
I think we're going to get Indian carry-out tomorrow night.

Around here the Indian buffets are lunch only, dinner is à la carte.
The best lunch buffet near me was discontinued during the plague and never came back. They would even give you a container for takeout, flat rate. I could fill it with enough for two when Mr.W was housebound.
The lesser buffet, a bit further, is now Fri-Sat-Sun. Quite a bit further is a huge one, understandably more expensive, but unless I'm ravenous it's not worth the trip. Another victim of covid was the Indian vegetarian buffet with all sorts of dishes I'd never seen before and a constant supply of dosas. They also had naan, but why bother!

Yeah the fantastic south Indian buffet near here closed too, which is a source of great sadness.
The guy who was the host at that place is now at the place we'll go tomorrow night. He was there the last time we went to lunch there with friends and recognized me and said hi - which is crazy since I hadn't seen him in 3 years. I guess I was memorable because I went to the other place a LOT after I went to India and must have raved about the food in Kerala to him or something.

After having some fantastic street food for lunch the last days ( love jerk chicken) they were all closed today, guess because it's Sunday.
So wanted to "treat" myself to a nice lunch at beach restaurant and had the most disappointing quesadillas ever. Nearly no cheese, chicken no flavour, salsa boring.
I'll stick with local lunches the next days!

Monday is the day everything closes here. Monday evenings would otherwise be a night that we possibly had takeaways, because the younger child has a class till 6.45pm. I'm not sure how this happened, possibly because the movie theatre is also closed on Monday nights except for charity/fundraiser screenings, so it's possibly the quietest night of the week for them.
