At a couple of places I frequent a small sandwich is $8-10 and a large is $12-14. I always get the large because it's huge and will do for two meals, either lunch and dinner the same day or two lunches.
There's one nearby deli that does a Mile High Pastrami like that, which I'm craving at the moment because they've been on vacation. At another I alternate between roast beef and seafood salad. I'm very spoiled for takeout around here.

so today was our take out day, and a. wanted pizza from the restaurant across the street. it was really crowded though (so loud inside, and we'd probably have had to wait a long time), so she changed it to the halloumi place across the street. i got a halloumi chicken sandwich, she got a chicken sandwich. both with peanut sauce, and i had some spicy sauce added to mine. it was spicier than i expected - fortunatley we had also gotten a mango ayran ...

oh, and the sandwiches are 5.50 or 6 Euros now - i think they were 3 or 3.50 just a couple of years ago ... döner is also about 6 Euros these days, and i remember a time when some places advertised döner for 1 Euro (though abck then the usual price was 1.50) ...

I nearly got a halloumi sandwich instead, but it was listed under "Breakfast" so I had a premonition of showing up and them not having them at lunchtime, and having to choose something else and wait.

I had one nice sit down meal at the north coast - touristy place attached to the animal flower cave I visited. It was worth it though, they did a burrito, but used a Roti instead of a tortilla, which is a Barbados thing but works well! You can get Rotis stuffed with all kinds of things and folded burrito style, mine was shredded pork, rice and black beans. What annoyed me though was that the price was on the menu, but nowhere not even in the small print did it mention it was without VAT, and service charge - I'm fine paying that, but it would be good to know as it changed the price significantly (added a third really).
Also had local jerk chicken twice more as I really loved the flavour.
Does "I am at the airport and have to eat so grab a slice of pepperoni pizza" count as eating out? Anyway, the price was ok (somebody told me to eat before security, somehow after security prices would have been more than double - and it was more like a quarter of a pizza than a slice, which was ok for USD 5.
