my partner finds the cardboard roll of a toilet paper roll disgusting if it's not thrown away immediately.

For many years, we used the cardboard rolls from toilet paper for children’s crafts, until someone decided they were unhygienic. I’m not sure what the current rules are.

It occurs to me that a cardboard tp roll is no more unhygienic than anything else in the bathroom, unless one stores everything in an airtight cabinet. So they're not bacteriologically unhygienic; they're culturally unhygienic.
Yeah I've been thinking about this a lot this morning

An empty TP roll indicates that the person who emptied it did not have the courtesy to replace it with a fresh one. That's what annoys me.

But sometimes it gets replaced and the empty roll thing remains on the sink/ledge so that you can make origami with it or whatever

I'm sure you haven't, but the intention was there, no?
It is wierd. He has all sorts of bathroom habits I find deeply unhygenic, but I just work around them. I think his stomach is more delicate or something.
And yes, I always replace the toilet roll. That drives me nuts. If I lived with someone who didn't, I would carry my own secret roll until they did.

As for empty rolls: I remember in elementary school our class was going to build a medieval castle and we were all asked to save TP rolls, paper towel rolls, and especially cylindrical oatmeal cartons to make the towers & turrets and other round segments of the project. We had a great time.

You wait until your towel needs washing, (that's every 3 weeks or so), then take it all to the laundry (where the recyclables bin is) as a job lot. It saves a lot of walking.

groo - "I have never seen cylindrical oatmeal. You certainly live in a land of wonders." I believe cylindrical oatmeal grows from cube roots.

Why my coffee brand that I drink every morning suddenly has become too bitter for a second cup. I made a cup with a different brand and it was okay. No thrill but a change is happening.

Price rises. I was planning to visit a local cafe for lunch yesterday, but they have put their prices up massively.
Notably, they are now charging £9.50 for a bowl of soup. This is not a fancy place.

Does it come with great bread and a beverage?
I spent quite a bit of time working with a client on a translation for a business website. They've just sent me a link to the video incorporating all that, and it's great. Aside from the opening text, which includes the phrase, "X are the heaven of your mind."
Great heavy metal ballad, but no idea why they thought that was going to work. It doesn't even work in their business language.

That reminds me of the person linked in wants me to befriend. He calls himself a mental health consultant, and uses the title Dr, but those of us who know him know the Ph D is from some tin pot college, and is in education, not mental health.

If I check the email spam folder on my laptop (where I do most of my email), it is empty. If I check on the tablet app, there are dozens.

How a driver managed to run her van up on a curb in a parking lot to the point that I didn't think that she was going to get it off. She seemed to whip into the lot rather fast because I didn't see her at first. If she would have stopped with one wheel on the curb, no problem but she didn't.

Two things.
1) My best friend seems to be having some issues with her husband, who is also a friend of mine. I can't quite work out how serious it is, because she is the kind of person who complains a lot. We are meeting up with them this weekend, so I hope it's not too awkward.
2) We recommended a hotel to them which they stayed at on their recent holiday. He seemed to love it, but I asked her and she said it was a bit posh for her (it's had an upgrade since we last stayed there). Her main complaint was that the portion sizes were too large (um, just eat as much as you want and leave the rest?).

The portion size thing - if you've been brought up to avoid food waste it can be hard to leave food on the plate. And it is a waste to have large portion sizes, so I get that.
But I don't see how large portion sizes = posh

It isn't, but it always seems to me that in South America people don't eat out as often, so when they do they expect larger portion sizes.
