I bumped a glass lamp shade and it fell off and broke. It's a set of 6. Will I be able to find a match or will I need 6 new ones. Pfft. You don't need 6 new ones. If you get two you can set them up so they look intentional - three pairs or two sets of three with a different one in the midde - as long as the colors or patterns go well together.

New quest to find something like that. I have an eclectic look around here anyway. I almost knocked another one off today. So I find a wallet on the side of the road in front of a house while dog walking. I assumed it belonged to the occupant. He said it didn't belong to him but he knew who it was and would take care if it. I guess I have to trust him. Still puzzled tho. This is in my normal neighborhood.

Who was the man with a number I didn’t recognise who left a message on my voicemail at 5.30 this evening: “sorry I missed you. If you need anything call the office” ?No name or business name. I checked numbers for retirement village manager and real estate agent, but it wasn’t either of them. I never answer or return calls from unknown numbers, but in this case I texted asking who it was, but so far, I’ve had no response.

How can a relatively small feline weigh so much once she's lying on my lap. I swear she defies physics.

How can one person get tickets to all 7 Taylor Swift Australian concerts, when others miss out completely? Doesn’t seem fair to me.

why am i unable to concentrate in a meeting? everyone else seems to manage, but for me, unless they are speaking about a topic that directly affects me (and where i have something to say), i can't seem to be able to focus for long, no matter how hard i try. and worse if the meeting is right after lunch - then i have trouble even staying awake, no matter how much i slept at night ... actually, even when something interests me, it is sometimes difficult - like watching the news, i don't catch something, so rewind a bit to listen again - and then realize when that part is over, that i missed the part i wanted to hear, again ...

i tried that, too, tried to practice some japanese and some arabic letters ... still did not help, and i am worried it might get noticed. back in university, i'd sometimes doze off while taking notes - there'd be strange looking letters that just kind of end with a line ...

Oh I definitely only doodle extensively in Teams/Zoom meetings! I try to avoid attending those kinds of boring meetings IRL.

There are two cases of high profile Australian sports people being accused of racial slurs. In one case the alleged victim is Australian Aboriginal and the person he is accusing is Samoan. In the other case the person accused identifies as Aboriginal, the alleged victim was a police officer. I’m starting to wonder where does racism begin and end.

Why do I enjoy looking at boxes so much? clear ones, wicker ones, paper ones, plain ones, fabric ones, one that I'd decorate myself...
it's soothing, but I don't know why.

Sounds a little like my backpack fetish - like if I find a perfect thing to put things in, then my life will be well-organized and perfect.

There are 2 main supermarket chains in Oz - lets call them Woolies and Coles. I've just been shopping in one chain, and when I get home, I get an email from the other chain about specials etc. This happens nearly every time I go shopping.
Do they read each others loyalty card systems (or something else) to find out where I've shopped?

The hogwarts duel between McGonagal and Snape still looks correographed to look like a fight, but Snape is never the aggressor, he's only defending, and then he knocks out the Carrows, before fleeing. Still think Dumbledore would have confided in McGonagal too.

had several itchy bites today, a bit like mosquito bites but barely visible, but it's kind of early for mosquitos and i didn't see any and the bites are at places that are covered by clothing ...
