Mine literally said to me yesterday afternoon as he carried a basket of washing inside "can you fold the washing please you do it so much better than I do".
WTF.
He doesn't do things like this often but when he does. whoooeee. I was not pleased.

It has been LC's job to fold the laundry for quite a while now. At first I wanted to refold everything but I let it go and he is much better now..

My response was something like 'you could fold it just as well if you were a bit more careful and practiced more. so, here's your chance for some practice.'
Also, why leave it out on the line until it's cold outside so everything is slightly damp and needs to be dried again.

I used to fold certain clothes just before I put them into the washing machine so they didn’t go skew-whiff and go all out of shape. It worked wonders on things with long sleeves.

Not what you were asking / saying, but I tend to fold things as I take them off the line. I also tend to take things off the line one person at a time, so when I get in I can just distribute them one pile at a time.
Very little gets ironed (regularly) for anyone wondering. Shirts do, but MrSnow has lots and doesn't need to wear them every day, so I tend to accumulate quite a pile and they get done every few weeks / months. I *may* start ironing more often now Child1 has decided he'd prefer to wear shirts rather than polo shirt to school, but it's not a big priority, and he certainly doesn't care.

A friend convinced her husband soon after they were married that she didn’t know how to iron. I wear clothes that don’t need ironing, so I’ve almost forgotten how.

Vinny, your post made me think. I never ironed anything when I lived at home, neither did I ever mop a floor. We weren’t expected to.

How old is Child1, snow? I was ironing my own shirts from a pretty early age 10,but nobody minds very much if they get ironed, and I think it's a bit wasteful to heat up the iron for one small shirt (he only has two school shirts in total).

I let the kids and Mr sort their own clothes. It's up to them if they fold them. Ding ding ding. We do our own laundry in this house; he can store all of his rolled up in a barrel for all I care. Snow, ironing polo shirts???! Don’t start down that road, that is where madness lies

Polo shirts don't get ironed, but he's announced he'd rather wear actual shirts, which is totally fine with me, since he was growing out of the polo shirts anyway, and the other one can wear them. It's the actual shirts that look better ironed. But he only has two in total, because at 10 it's find to wear them a couple of days (other day he has PE), so they get washed fairly frequently. I mean I suppose I could buy two more since they're hardly expensive, but I'll see how it goes for a while.

I iron pillow cases and some cotton shirts in summer.
But the chances of me ironing anything for anyone else are very slim to fuck off.

I haven't ironed anything in years, mostly because I don't buy things that need to be ironed.
I try to grab clothes warm out of the dryer and fold them so they look OK. Mostly I wear knit tops anyhow, and the tencel and permanent press slacks flatten out very nicely when they're warm.
I can only recall using the iron when mending something that had to be properly flat to line up correctly for the sewing machine, which I've used equally rarely for many years.
The last time I did any significant amount of ironing was when my M-i-L died and Mr.W and I were staying at my s-i-l's apartment. There were heaps of clean, unfolded, unironed laundry in the back bedroom. I just hid there, doing someting useful, while the rest of the family was dealing with all sorts of stuff and people that I wanted to escape.

WE don't iron anything either, with the single exception of one of my good work dresses.
But we also don't own a clothes dryer, so if things don't get folded soon after coming off the line they do end up creased.
I couldn't care less what his clothes look like, and nor could he probably, but I do care what mine look like and the kids'. Also we do use linen serviettes every night at dinner and those need to be folded so they don't crease. And they're also difficult to fold from the line, which is one of the reasons why I don't...
I do bring things in off the line in groups though snow! just I put all the towels and things that don't really need folding, underwear and socks, and then the things that need folding on the top. But that's when I bring in the washing...

Clipper irons his work stuff and sometimes LC's school shirts. I might iron once a year when I want to wear something that really needs to be ironed.

Vinny, your post made me think. I never ironed anything when I lived at home, neither did I ever mop a floor. We weren’t expected to. My parents worked full time from the time my younger sister started school; I was eight. We did have a house cleaner at times before my father died (when I was eleven), but she didn't do ironing.
